MHRA warning on volumetric pump
A software problem has prompted the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency to issue an alert over the Alaris GP and Alaris GP Guardrails volumetric pump.
The pumps are manufactured by CareFusion and branded Cardinal Health. Only models with Plus software version 2.1.12 are affected.
If the previous set up is not cleared at start-up, the single bubble detection threshold will default to 100 microlites, with the potential for serious harm to patients, especially neonates, or an increase in nuisance alarms.
There are more details on the MHRA website.
