New 'Wall of Life' campaign to boost organ donation
NHS Blood and Transplant has launched a new campaign to boost the number of people joining the NHS Organ Donor Register by creating an online mosaic.
The interactive Wall of Life is intended to be a mosaic created from people’s photos posted on the site to show their support for organ donation.
The photos will come together to make up the image of two-year old Louisa McGregor-Smith, whose life was saved by a heart transplant in 2007 at the age of five months. At least 60,000 people need to upload their photos on the site to build the image.
The project is supported by Scottish health secretary Nicola Sturgeon. She said: ‘I am fully behind the Wall of Life campaign, which is an innovative way of using technology and social networking to raise awareness about organ donation. l certainly be uploading my picture to the Wall and I’d encourage everyone else to do the same.’
