Call for free parking in all NHS hospitals in Scotland
Mr Martin, MSP for Springburn in Glasgow, has called for the three remaining hospitals that still charge for parking to abolish the fees.
Glasgow Royal Infirmary, Edinburgh Royal Infirmary and Ninewells Hospital in Dundee still charge fees because of Private Finance Initiative (PFI) agreements.
Rules imposed Scotland’s health minister, Nicola Sturgeon, meant that charges in all other hospitals in the country were abolished from the beginning of this month.
Mr Martin’s Bill will go out to consultation for 12 weeks and will need the support of 16 MSPs from two parties to progress.
Nursing Times is also calling on nurses and other health professionals to support its 'Free Parking, clampdown on unfair charges for nurses' campaign by signing an online petition at the prime minister's website.
Nursing Times has also created a fake parking permit that nurses can place in their car window in support of the campiagn. To download and print yours click here
