Cancer nurses to provide new support line

A new telephone support service has been launched for breast and prostate cancer survivors.

The new, free service provided by Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, is to help anyone who has received breast or prostate cancer treatment at the trust in their transition from patient to survivor.

‘Surviving Cancer – Living Life’ provides personalised advice and information from a specially trained team of experienced cancer nurses.

Each patient is allocated a care manager who will call at pre-arranged times to provide advice and support.

Care managers will be supported by Pfizer Health Solutions’s disease management software platform, which assists in creating and delivering individual, tailored care plans for each patient. A pilot project will run for one year.
