'Lansley must listen to nurses on the front line' Meeting the quality and productivity challenge
NHS Chief Executive David Nicholson has challenged the NHS to identify ways to drive up the quality of care while improving efficiency.
This will help to prepare for an expected funding shortfall of £15-20bn in the financial years 2011-14.
Jim Easton, National Director for Improvement and Efficiency, who is leading this work, says: ‘Each day, best practice is happening somewhere in the NHS, but not
everywhere. The quality and productivity challenge starts by identifying the good work for everyone’s benefit.’
A new project, Quality and Productivity: Establishing the Evidence, aims to collate all of the available evidence for how to improve quality and productivity, and develop new evidence to fill gaps.
A new website will launch in early December, containing an initial selection of the best evidence available.
