Essex theatre nurse wins opportunity to work in Africa

Taonga Kaonga, a specialist theatre nurse at St John’s Hospital, was awarded the second of two sponsorships Mölnlycke Health Care grant each year. She will teach alongside FoAN in Ghana next year.

FoAN is a charity that focuses on nursing education in African countries. The charity selects countries where nurses may not have received training or practice updates for 35 years.

A key focus of FoAN is to educate African nurses on how to protect themselves from infectious disease in a high risk environment. It supports African government health strategies.

Applicants for the sponsorship must have over 10 years experience in the operative field, and be able to cope with difficult situations.

The deadline for sponsorship applicants is 8 April 2009. Applicants should submit their CV and 1,000-1,500 words on why they wish to travel with FoAN to Africa. Applications should be submitted to Zeph Landers.
