Florence Nightingale commemoration service to be held in Westminster Abbey

This year’s service to commemorate the life and work of Florence Nightingale will be held in Westminster Abbey

This Service celebrates the professions of nursing and midwifery and all staff, both qualified and unqualified working in these services, are invited to attend.

During the Service, the Procession of the Lamp takes place. The Lamp will be carried by a Scholar of the Florence Nightingale Foundation and this year it will be escorted by student nurses from the School of Nursing throughout Scotland

The Very Reverend John Hall, Dean of Westminster Abbey, will give the Address. and The Choir of Westminster Abbey will sing the Service.

The service will take place at 6.15pm on Wednesday 13th May 2009.

Entrance to the Service is by ticket only. These are free and are available from the Florence Nightingale Foundation website.

Tickets will be allocated on a first come first served basis.
