Free DVD helps parents prepare for baby
The National Childbirth Trust (NCT) is offering healthcare professionals a free DVD to help prepare parents for life with a baby.
‘Mum’s the Word’ features the story of one woman’s preparation for birth and motherhood, examples of how other mums have coped with the challenges and information about how the NCT can help.
Topics include breastfeeding, relationship changes with partners and benefits.
NCT Chief Executive Belinda Phipps said: “There are lots of films on how to look after your baby but there isn’t a film on how to look after mum.”
A 2008 MORI survey found that one in five people without children thought life with a newborn would be terrifying.
