Louise Boden - Lifetime Achievement Award

Louise Boden, chief nurse, University College London Hospitals Foundation Trust

Our admissions panel proposed two nurses who they believed had made outstanding contributions across their careers. Users of nursingtimes.net voted for Louise Boden to receive the Lifetime Achievement Award.

Louise has ensured that nursing and midwifery have a high profile with her trust board and is widely respected for nurturing talent, as well as credited with developing the careers of chief nurses at trusts around the country.

In addition to her demanding role at UCLH Louise is a member of the Task Force convened by the independent regulator of foundation trusts to address concerns around leadership and quality of care at Basildon and Thurrock University Hospitals Foundation Trust and a nursing advisor to NHS Employers. She is also a governor at the Chalfont Centre for Epilepsy, and an honorary visiting professor at both City and London South Bank Universities. She was awarded an OBE for ‘services to nursing’ in the New Year’s Honours in 2003
