Maintain pressure on reforms to protect NHSNew uniform for HCAs
A new uniform for healthcare assistants will soon be appearing on wards at the Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle and West Cumberland Hospital in Whitehaven.
Green and white stripes have been chosen for the new uniform, which will come into use gradually across both hospitals in a rolling programme of replacement as the existing uniforms become worn out.
It is available in a tunic with navy blue trousers or a dress for women and a white tunic with green and white striped epaulettes with navy trousers for men.
The uniform has been changed in response to feedback from patients who said they had trouble identifying the different roles of staff.

What have they had previously then? I thought most HCAs across the country already had this design? both at the trust I am studying at in Bristol and my local trust in wales HCAs have been wearing green tops for ages.

Why the fuss about new uniforms in that particular trust? Our HCA's have been wearing "eau-de-nil" tunics/dresses for years!! Staff Nurses wear dark blue tunics/dresses, Junior Sisters wear pale blue and ward managers wear Royal blue. The matrons wear purple. The patients wear pyjamas and complain that they get confused by all the different coloured uniforms!!!!!

This top looks the same as what is already being worn except for the turquoise colour which is unusual.
