Maintain pressure on reforms to protect NHSHospital food still not hitting the spot
One in five members of staff said they would be unhappy to eat the food on offer in their hospitals, a survey by consumer charity Which? has revealed.
The survey, which questioned 1,000 patients and 250 hospital staff - including doctors, nurses, caterers and porters - also showed that one in three patients disliked hospital food so much that many bought their own meals or asked visitors to bring it in for them.
Other problems with the services included portion sizes, problematic meal times and disliking the types of food itself.
Clare Corbett, health campaigner at Which?, said: ‘Our research provides yet more evidence that patients and NHS staff are unhappy with hospital food. So why isn’t it getting any better?’
Which? blames the dissatisfaction on a ‘deadlock’ between patients and the NHS, claiming that some patients do not complain as they feel that nothing will change.
