Cancer tsar to be judge in Nursing Times Awards
The government’s national clinical director for cancer, Mike Richards, and the Department of Health’s NHS workforce director, Clare Chapman, are among the high-profile judges of this year’s Nursing Times Awards.
Other judges include Eileen Sills, chief nurse at Guy’s and St Thomas’s Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, Rosemary Cook, director of the Queen’s Nursing Institute, and Gail Adams, head of nursing at Unison.
The judging will take place in September, when shortlisted nominees will be invited to meet and be interviewed by the judges.
The awards categories include cancer nurse leader, A&E nursing, infection control, patient safety and patient dignity.
The Nursing Times Awards aim to ensure that individual nurses or teams are both recognised and rewarded for work that raises the standard of nursing practice and health care in the UK.
They also aim to raise the profile of the profession, highlighting the quality of work being undertaken by nurses in all specialties and settings.
