Nurse struck off NMC register for indecent child video

A male nurse was struck off the NMC register after pleading guilty to possession of an indecent video of a young child.

In 2007, the 38-year old nurse Emanuel Villafania, from Kidderminster, was sentenced to six months imprisonment, suspended for two years, and banned from residing in any household with any child under the age of 18.

The independent panel of the Conduct and Competence Committee found that Villafania’s actions constituted a serious departure from the Code of Professional Conduct and should therefore be struck off the register.

The Code requires registered nurses to act in a way that justifies the trust and confidence of the public and upholds the good reputation of the profession.

NMC spokesperson Nina Rossi commented on the panel’s decision to strike Villafania off the register.

Ms Rossi said: ‘The registrant had a video of a young child performing acts of a sexual nature with an adult male. The panel is satisfied that this misconduct is incompatible with continuing to be registered with the NMC.’
