Nurses named in Queen's birthday honours

She is joined by former nurse Professor Carol Baxter who is head of equality and diversity and human rights at NHS Employers and Sarah Andrews director of nursing at primary care trust NHS Eastern and Coastal Kent.  Chief nursing officer for Wales Rosemary Kennedy has also been awarded a CBE.

Nurses who have been awarded an OBE include Susan Hooton associate director of clinical governance and effectiveness at 5 Boroughs Partnership NHS Trust, Professor Catherine Niven and Dr Caroline Shuldham director of nursing, Royal Brompton and Harefield NHS Trust.

Those to have received an MBE include Marcelle de Souza nurse specialist in the adolescent unit at University College Hospitals NHS foundation trust and Brenda King tissue viability nurse specialist at NHS Sheffield PCT.
