Maintain pressure on reforms to protect NHSTroubled Mid-Staffordshire trust's chief quits
The chief executive of Mid-Staffordshire foundation trust has resigned, two months after the Healthcare Commission published its damning report.
The trust has begun advertising for a full-time replacement for Martin Yeates, who stepped down from his post at the beginning of March.
Interim chair David Stone said in a statement on Friday: ‘We received formal notification today that Martin Yeates has resigned from the trust.
‘The trust is actively seeking to recruit a new chief executive officer to drive forward the continuing transformation of Mid-Staffordshire foundation trust and help the trust, its staff and patients move forward with confidence.’
Following the regulator’s report, Mr Stone announced an internal review of his leadership of the trust.
Chesterfield Royal Hospital foundation trust chief executive Eric Morton was appointed interim chief executive at Staffordshire by Monitor after Mr Yeates said he was stepping down.
