Cards and fridge magnets help support mental health patients
Norfolk and Waveney Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust has issued service users with information cards and fridge magnets featuring telephone numbers for the trust’s 24-hour crisis helpline, the Samaritans and SANEline.
The trust has produced 6,000 cards, which also gives the name and number of the cardholder’s own care coordinator, and 600 magnets.
The idea was the brainchild of trust public governor Bob Murphy (pictured), who has lived who has 30 years’ personal experience of mental health issues.
‘It’s something useful that people can carry around with them,’ he said. ‘It’s useful for them to have this kind of information to hand in an emergency, or if they feel unwell, or are panicking.’
