CBT effective in relieving Irritable Bowel Syndrome
Cognitive behavioural therapy, more commonly used to treat problems like depression and obsessive compulsive disorder, is effective in relieving irritable bowel syndrome, say US researchers.
They studied 71 IBS patients - who attended regular therapy sessions over 10 weeks - and found that many experienced relief from their symptoms within four weeks of treatment.
