MHRA warning after drugs manufacturer recalls oral morphine solution

Healthcare professionals have been urged by the government’s drugs and medicines watchdog, the MHRA, to quarantine certain batches of an oral morphine solution.

The Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) said drug manufacturer Boehringer/Ingelheim had recalled packs of 10mg/5ml Oramorph Oral Solution.

It had received complaints about deviation in taste and non-serious events and recalled affected batches of the drug, which are listed on the MHRA website.

All affected stock, which is used in hospitals and community pharmacies, should be quarantined and returned for credit, the MHRA said.
