MRI more effective than mammogram
MRI scans detect aggressive early-stage breast cancers better than standard mammograms, research has shown.
The German research shows MRI picked up 92% of lesions compared with conventional X-ray screening, which found only 56% of lesions.
In aggressive cancers, MRI picked up 98% of lesions compared with standard mammograms, which picked up 52%.
Researchers have called for more use of MRI in detection of breast cancer following the study.
