Maintain pressure on reforms to protect NHSClinical guidelines accredited for NHS Evidence
Evidence-based clinical guidelines and information on the latest medicines and treatments from the National Institute for Health and Clinical Evidence (NICE) are being made available on the NHS Evidence website.
NICE’s Centres for Clinical Practice (NICE CCP) and Health Technology Evaluation (NICE CHTE) have been accredited by NHS Evidence, along with the Scottish Intercollegiate Guidelines Network (SIGN), as fit to demonstrate and implement guidance.
NHS Evidence said the accreditation would help ensure that all NHS staff have access to the best information available online to help them make informed decisions about patient care.
To qualify for accreditation organisations must show that they meet internationally-recognised criteria, including processes for external peer review.
The scheme aims to identify the most trusted sources of information in order to improve guidance standards.
Health minister Mike O’Brien said: “This will ensure that all of the content on NHS Evidence is to the highest possible quality.”
