NICE calls for better education on sex, relationships and alcohol
Sex education, and teaching about relationships and alcohol can be improved, NICE said as it released draft guidance on personal, social, health and economic education.
The draft guidance included recommendations that education in this area should begin in primary school and continue until early adulthood.
It said that parents must be reassured that sex and relationships education does not promote early sex, increase rates of sexual activity, or increase the likelihood of sexual experimentation.
Final guidance is expected to be published in January 2011.
