Maintain pressure on reforms to protect NHSUK immigrants given priority as Australia tackles nurse shortage
The increasing demand for nurses in Australia has led to the Minister for Immigration, Chris Evans, to grant nursing migrants priority processing for their visa applications.
Nurses who are thinking about moving to Australia can also take part in an online event to find out more about living and working in another country.
The event, “Live the Dream”, which is being launched from 13-19 February, will allow UK nurses to speak directly to key specialists within the migration industry and specialist recruiters with current nursing vacancies.

I am a UK nurse in Australia at a wonderful hospial called St. Vincents Sydney, it is very well staffed here even though it is a public hospital....other public hospitals have shortages like the UK but this particular hopaital had extra funding because it is run by nuns and they have lots of charities.... and has a high standard philosophy of care......high respect for all staff, patients, mimimal bullying etc...really laid back but very good care is given. That's great news that they will quicken up the visas, it took a while for mine but i know it has been taking longer because of the English test...but now that nurses are a prority i reckon you'll get over here pretty quick....i have loved every minute and you can always go back to UK in the end.....or not!
