NHS hospital begins publishing MRSA and C diff figures online
St George’s Healthcare NHS Trust in London has begun the online scheme to show that infection control is a top priority.
Figures on the website date from April 2008 and are regularly updated.
They show how well the trust is performing against NHS national targets for both MRSA and C diff.
According to latest figures, C diff cases have fallen by 74% compared with last year.
It also has the lowest MRSA rate of any teaching hospital in London.
Dr Geraldine Walters, Director of Nursing, Patient Involvement and Infection Control, said: ‘Understandably hospital-acquired infection is a major concern for patients.
'Here at St George’s we are working hard to control the levels of infection and we want the public to be able to see for themselves the positive impact that our efforts are having.
'Our aim is to maintain and build confidence in St George’s services and, by publishing our infection rate figures, we will help people to understand more about how we are working to improve care.’
