NICE approves lung cancer drug

NICE has issued final guidance on the on the use of pemetrexed disodium (Alimta) for the treatment of malignant pleural mesothelioma, an asbestos-induced lung cancer.The institute recommend that the drug be made available on the NHS for all patients who are considered to have advanced disease, and for whom surgical intervention is not deemed appropriate.
