NMC faces racism tribunal from its own vice-president
Nursing Times understands Moi Ali submitted the claim, which also relates to discrimination on the basis of religious belief, to London Central Employment Tribunal earlier this month.
Ms Ali was formerly a lay member of the council, became vice-president in 2006 and her current term of office ends in July 2010. A spokesperson for the NMC said it would not comment on employment tribunals.
NT earlier this month revealed how claims of racism and bullying at the NMC were revealed in an adjournment debate in the House of Commons by Livingstone MP Jim Devine. Watch NT's breaking news service for more details on this story.
