Hospital
Poem submitted by Lakechia Jeanne, 12 yrs old
Dim, Dingy ever winding corridors
Spiraling down to a non-existing end.
Further and further away it seems
So remote; so undiscovered
The smell of anti-septic
Sprays in the atmosphere, eliminating
Scents of saplings that visitors bring
Coughing, sneezing, convulsing
The nurses approach and cautiously lift frail fingers
Pushing plastic handled wheelchairs
Bruises, plasters
Subdued tears trickle down pale cheeks
Pain, hurting no more tears to cry
Anticipation, apprehension, awaiting
Presentiment, premonition, preconception
