Maintain pressure on reforms to protect NHSOne in five nursing and midwifery research projects are world leading
Findings of a grading system for nursing and all other UK academic research have been published this week.
The assessment showed that 19% of nursing and midwifery research projects received the highest ranking, and was considered as ‘world leading’.
In the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise, the UK’s four Higher Education Funding Councils graded 2,363 submissions from 132 higher education institutions in 67 subject areas.
Each submission was graded, with 4* indicating world-leading research and 0 being unclassified.
Chair of the Council of Deans of Health, Sue Bernhauser, said: ‘These are excellent results for nursing and midwifery and we congratulate all our colleagues whose research has been assessed so highly.’
Overall, the quality of nursing and midwifery research was ranked 44th highest out of the 67 subject areas being assessed.
