Maintain pressure on reforms to protect NHSPM's commission seeks public view on nursing
The Prime Minister’s Commission on the Future of Nursing and Midwifery is due to hold its first ‘listening event’ this week to gauge public opinion on the profession.
The event is expected to take place on 15 July at the City of Manchester Stadium with 50 members of the public, recent patients and carers discussing their views and opinions on issues around the future of nursing and midwifery.
Commissioners were set to take part in interactive sessions with patients and the public around the commission’s five workstream areas, revealed by Nursing Times last month.
The event will be preceded by the commission’s third formal meeting on 14 July.
According to a Department of Health spokesperson, the commission meeting will discuss ‘nursing and midwifery roles, how times have changed, whether these roles need to change and if so what changes need to be made and how this can be achieved’.
The next ‘listening event’ will be held in October – location has yet to be decided.
