Guidance targets sexual health among BME teenagers

New guidance has been published to help nurses broach sexual health issues with BME teenagers.

Sexual health charity Brook has published a leaflet for health professionals on reaching young people, particularly those from Black and Minority Ethnic communities.

The leaflet provides a ten point guide and is based on a project that explored the barriers to young people accessing sexual health resources.

Brook national director Simon Blake said: ‘Having young people so involved with the project was vital so that they could tell us their views about sexual health services and in the way that they wanted to do so.

‘It offers health professionals who work with young people from BME communities an insight into what young people want from sexual health services,’ he said.
