Swine flu 'declining', says Mexican government
The swine flu outbreak in Mexico has peaked, according to the country’s health minister.
Jose Angel Cordova told a press conference that ‘the evolution of the epidemic is in its declining phase’.
A spokeman from the World Health Organization confirmed that the recent ‘round of activity’ may be past its most critical stage, but warned: ‘We cannot lower our guard. There is a high possibility that this virus will come back’.
The swine flu outbreak originated in Mexico, where 19 deaths from the virus have been confirm. The WHO has reported 787 cases of swine flu in 17 countries around the world.
