Botox safe treatment for overactive bladder
Research suggests that repeated use of Botox (Botulinum toxin-A) appears to be an effective and safe treatment for patients with overactive bladder.
This is the conclusion of a study that included a cohort of 34 patients twenty of whom were given repeat injections of the Botox injection. The effect was measured using voiding diaries and quality of life scores. Urodynamic data was also obtained.
The researchers identified a significant improvement in overactive bladder symptoms and quality of life after each botox injection. The most common problems reported by patients after treatment were difficulty in emptying their bladder and urinary tract infection.
