Secondary school pupils have been enjoying a week-long summer school designed to interest them in nursing as a career.
For the second year running, the collaboration between NHS Grampian and the School of Nursing and Midwifery at Robert Gordon University provided workshops in which participants could learn and practise core nursing skills.
In all, eight fifth and sixth year pupils from Speyside, Banff, Aberdeen and Huntly visited Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, Woodend Hospital, Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital, Royal Cornhill Hospital and the university’s own clinical skills centre.
Debbie Banks, senior lecturer at RGU’s school of nursing and midwifery, said: ‘The nursing summer school is one way of investing in local young people who have the potential to become the health professionals of the future.’
