Maintain pressure on reforms to protect NHSUniversity open day encourages degree level careers in nursing
A university in Scotland is to hold an open day this month to promote nursing degrees and careers.
Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen is to hold the open day on Saturday 13 June to promote nursing degrees at its Faculty of Health and Social Care, from 10am to 2pm.
Prospective students will be able to meet staff and view the faculty’s facilities, including the state-of-the-art Clinical Skills Centre.
The open day will make the case that in these times of economic crisis, nursing degrees could provide the first step to a long-term career, with starting salaries of around £20,000.
The university offers full-time, three-year courses, including Adult Nursing, Mental Health Nursing and Children’s Nursing.
Jennie Parrie, head of the School of Nursing and Midwifery, said: ‘The courses we offer are designed to be flexible and student-friendly, enabling people to adjust to University life while dealing with busy lifestyles.’
Nursing diplomas are currently being phased out and by 2015, nurses will be trained at degree level only.
