First swine flu death reported in London
NHS London has announced the death of a teenager in London, the first swine flu fatality in the capital
The victim, from Lewisham in south east London, is the fourth person to die of swine flu in the UK
A statement from NHS London said: ‘It is with sadness that we have to announce the death of a patient in London who has subsequently tested positive for H1N1 swine flu. The 19-year-old male from south London had serious underlying health problems.’
London has already had enough cases to force officials to shift from a containment policy to one of ‘outbreak management’.
