An autumn strike is among the actions threatened by Unite as it steps up its campaign against the thee-year NHS pay deal.
Representatives of the UK’s largest union met this week to express their anger at the government’s offer of a 7.99% increase until 2011.
National demonstrations are already planned for Friday 18 July, followed by continued dispute with the health departments of the UK.
Unite National Officer for Health David Fleming said: 'Industrial action in the autumn is certainly an option that Unite will be consulting its membership over, as will further action and protests.'

No matter who is the goverment of the day nurses will always be short changed, it is a sorry state of affairs when some clerical staff are on band 3&4 I have just finished my assisstant practioner training up to foundation degree standard and I know some of the medical secretaries are already on the equalent to a band 4 and they don't have to work on the wards with psychotic patients and get the verbal abuse that we get or the threats. The NHS is top heavy and always has been and will be until some realises that it is not more managers we need but nursing and ancillary staff who get paid a livng wage , one managers pay could fund 2 or 3 nursing auxillaries.
