Website helps nurses go green

UK environmental regulators have launched an on-line resource to help healthcare professionals, including nurses, recognise their green obligations.

Netregs.gov.uk contains vital information on environmental law, with an entire section dedicated specifically to the healthcare sector.

Nurses will be able to log-on for free to discover how they can help protect the environment and save money and resources by complying with green laws.

Businesses in the healthcare sector can receive monthly emails with money saving and environmental tips, including advice on use of energy, land materials and waste disposal. Emails will also include details of any forthcoming legislation or changes to the law.

Richard Martin, programme manager of NetRegs, emphasised the importance of environmental awareness, stating that regulations regarding the disposal of waste were particularly relevant to healthcare.

He said that by using the website, ‘healthcare businesses stand to make significant cost savings and avoid fines, as well as limit the impact of their business on the environment.’

The healthcare section of the website is available here.
