Nurses looking to enhance their cardiac care skills can apply for one of two new specialist training modules.

City University in London is offering two modules – cardiac specialist core skills, and 12-lead ECG and its use in patient assessment – from next month. The modules can be completed as stand alone courses or as part of a BSc in Specialist Studies (Cardiac Care).

'They will equip nurses with clinical skills and practice techniques to help improve their cardiac care,' a university spokesperson said.

She added that the units would also enhance knowledge of national service frameworks and clinical guidelines, and teach nurses to coordinate specialist care and interventions to promote patient well-being and safety.
