Multiple sclerosis course launched

Nursing students will be able to take a module in multiple sclerosis at Swansea University from next year.

The Management of Multiple Sclerosis module is targeted at health professionals interested in chronic conditions and covers all aspects of the disease. The course has the backing of the MS Society.

The module is being developed by Dr Gareth Noble, the university's chronic condition management programme leader. 'The module will be offered in 2009, subject to approval and validation, and covers topics such as neuro-rehabilitation, current pharmacological inventions, and psychosocial aspects of the condition,' he said.

'It will ensure that students enhance their clinical knowledge and skills to manage multiple sclerosis using an effective multi-disciplinary approach,' he said.
