An 'invaluable' new training aid for nurses hoping to specialise in Parkinson's disease has been launched.
The Professional Portfolio for Parkinson's Disease Nurse Specialists (PDNSs) was unveiled earlier this month during a healthcare conference at Loughborough University.
The portfolio has been jointly developed by stakeholders including the Parkinson's Disease Society (PDS) and the Parkinson's Disease Nurse Specialist Association (PDNSA).
It is the first time such a document has been produced and, according to the PDS, will prove an invaluable aid for nurse specialists to track their professional development and demonstrate their competencies to others.
The portfolio consists of a large binder with sections on creating and maintaining a CV, how to work with your mentor and an updated PDNS competency framework.
