Call to nominate London's nurse 'champions'

An NHS Champions award has been launched to celebrate the 'extraordinary efforts' of healthcare staff in London.

Members of the public and NHS staff can nominate an individual who they believe has given an outstanding contribution to the health service in the capital. Any NHS employee can be nominated, including nurses, doctors, support staff and administrators.

Each nominee will receive a 'certificate of gratitude', which recognises their efforts, with finalists invited to a ceremony in December.

The award, launched to mark the 60th anniversary of the health service, is being run by the King's Fund in association with the Evening Standard and NHS London. King's Fund chief executive Niall Dickson said: 'Every day there are examples of exceptional care and this is a wonderful way of recognising that.'

Voting is open until 16 October. Click here to nominate an NHS Champion.
