Dudley Group of Hospitals Trust has appointed a new nursing director, Denise McMahon, who joins the trust after nearly 30 years in nursing.

Ms McMahon says she is passionate about patient care and will still continue to do clinical shifts, on a monthly basis, as she has throughout her career.

Ms McMahon said: 'This gives me the opportunity to speak to patients and give staff the chance to discuss professional issues about delivering care on the ward – lessening the gap between the ward and the board.

'I have already been out on one shift with the infection control team, a subject I have much experience in and thoroughly enjoyed the shift. It was good to go into the ward areas and see that this is also a real priority for our staff, with some areas of excellent practice.'

Ms McMahon was most recently director of nursing and midwifery at Kettering General.
