Mark Hayward has been appointed director of The Nurse Directors Association - which plans to relaunch later this year as The Association for Leaders in Nursing.

Mr Hayward said: 'We will be looking to build a reputation as a forward-thinking, independent and proactive association, with membership open to all nurse directors and leading and senior nurses working in NHS organisations, the Armed Forces, the independent sector and voluntary and charitable organisations in the UK.

'The views of these nurse leaders are vital to the development of healthcare policy nationally, and we will be representing their views.'

The association will be an independent non-trade union organisation providing a voice for nursing leadership in the UK.

Mr Hayward has had more than 20 years' experience working with membership organisations. These include the National Federation of Residential Landlords, the Radio, Electrical and Television Retailers Association and British Retail Consortium.
