  • Comment

Guidance designed to try and reduce the number of avoidable patient deaths from severe anorexia nervosa in general medical wards has been published by the Royal College of Psychiatrists and the Royal College of Physicians.

The guidelines, which have nine main recommendations, are aimed at all health professionals working in hospitals where patients with severe anorexia nervosa could be admitted.

They include advice on physical assessment and the use of mental health legislation.
