Arthritis screening wins nurse award

A Norfolk rheumatology nurse has been rewarded for her work with arthritis patients.

Debbie Bond, rheumatology nurse practitioner at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in King’s Lynn, has set up a chicken pox and shingles screening and inoculation programme for patients with arthritis before they are given drugs that lower their immune system.

The project won the Arthritis Research Campaign prize in rheumatology for allied health professionals, which Debbie will receive later this year.

‘I am stunned but really pleased,’ she said. ‘It shows that the work the department is doing is being recognised as important.’
