Beckton Dickson Clarification

  • Comment
Nursing Times would like to issue the following clarification about a story published earlier this month.

On 13 February 2009 we reported that the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency had issued a warning concerning the recall of certain lots of Becton Dickinson (BD) Diagnostics Vacutainer serum tubes (‘Hospital staff should quarantine blood collection tubes, says warning’).

We would like to clarify that only lots 8015159, 8029093, 8059728, 8095550, 8113634 and 8161235 were affected by the recall.

No other BD Vacutainer products were affected. When the BD Vacutainer serum tubes affected by the recall are used with BD single use needle holders the problems reported do not occur and no action is required.
