Call for clothing cash allowance

  • Comment
A minimum allowance of £110 a year should be given to nurses and other NHS staff who work in the community but do not wear uniforms, according to a motion passed by the Unison healthcare service group conference in Manchester last week.

The ‘mufti allowance’ would go towards costs associated with buying and cleaning the clothes, which must be kept clean in order to prevent infections spreading, said a motion.

Mufti allowances had been allowed under previous Whitley pay arrangements but not under Agenda for Change.
