Careers Live comes to Nottingham this month

  • Comment

Careers Live will be in Nottingham for the first time later this month. With a full programme of speakers and the chance to meet employers – it could be a gateway to your next career move

Later this month will mark a first for Nursing Times when we hold our inaugural careers fair in the East Midlands. Join us on 20 July at the Crowne Plaza Nottingham from 10am to 4.30pm. If you live in Nottingham, Leicester, Derby or the surrounding area, this event could be for you.

Whether you are a qualified nurse or a student just getting started, our event in Nottingham is the perfect opportunity to take charge of your career and set goals for the future.

It could be the gateway to a new direction in your career or simply the nudge to make you start thinking about your next move.

There will be the chance to meet employers face to face. Our exhibitors will be arranging interviews with you on the day and you could even walk away with a new job.

We will also have a full programme of speakers during the day, including sessions by senior nurses

from Nottingham University Hospitals Trust and a talk on dealing with difficult conversations. The latter will be led by Dawn Jones, managing director of Hope Place. Her session will look at workplace challenges and fears, discussing how to build personal resilience and develop assertiveness skills – to better prepare you when facing challenges from colleagues or patients.

One of the sessions will be specifically aimed at students, wanting to hear advice from their peers on making the most of their time in education and during their preceptorship year.

Our speaker will be Rachel Dakin from University of Nottingham, who won Student Nurse of the Year: Children category at the 2019 Student Nursing Times Awards. It will also feature a Q&A, where delegates will be able to quiz Rachel on her experiences.

Like all our careers events, lunch will be provided for free and there will be two prize draws taking place during the day where delegates will have the chance to win over £750 worth of prizes. You can also stay for a free drink afterwards.

Meanwhile, attendees will be able to benefit from free Vanity Van treatments between 12:30pm and 4:30pm, including hair, makeup and nails, plus the chance to relax with a message. In addition, attendees are welcome to bring their friends or children to the event if they wish to and we will give their guest a ticket at the door.

The first ever Nottingham Nursing Times Careers Live marks the halfway point in our careers fair calendar.

We have already been to Brighton, Liverpool and London in 2019, and during the second half of the year we will be in Birmingham on 21 September and Manchester on 5 October, before returning to London on 2 November for our final event of 2019.
