Cholesterol drug gets NHS go-ahead

  • Comment

The anti-cholesterol drug ezetimibe (Ezetrol) has been approved by NICE as a possible treatment for adults in certain circumstances.

The institute said it could be taken on its own by a patient who was unable to take statins. Or at the same time as a statin when cholesterol levels were not low enough, despite increasing the dose of the statin, or if a person was unable to try higher doses of the statin due to side effects.
