  • Comment on: Nearly all nurses reject NMC fee increase

    Chris Elston's comment 22 July, 2012 5:52 pm

Yet another example of the lack of respect that nurses are held in by their employers, regulators and the government. Everyone seems to think we are a soft touch and they can rail road through difficult and unpopular plans with no repercussions.
My patients appreciate my efforts but no-one else seems to. The reason for the resistance is simple a pay freeze resulting in a real pay cut followed by a 60& hike in fees, I wonder why we do not want to pay extra. The lunatics are running the asylum

This organisation should be shut down and a new regulatory body be instituted from scratch, staffed by nurses for nurses. The GMC seems to work for the doctors, so why does our regulation prove so problematical, or is it that nurses do not have the respect from the powers that be commensurate with doctors?

Hypocrites, huge rise in fees forecast yet reduction in services. Somebody needs to seriously review the way the NMC conducts its business and also they may need to appoint a spin doctor to help with their public persona, because I for one am getting increasingly frustrated at the way I am treated as a nurse and seriously now considering a new career!!

  • Comment on: NMC launches consultation on planned fee hike

    Chris Elston's comment 3 June, 2012 5:32 pm

Just filled in their so called consultation, it should really read as a survey to obtain the demographic data we already hold on our registrants. I cannot believe this has even been suggested. Can we refer to the office of fair trading, it is a monopoly that is behaving extremly unfairly. Please can we encourage our colleagues to also return negative feedback on the NMC's consultation, even if it is a mickey mouse deal. We need to be doing something about this rip off

An unweildy QUANGO that has been described as unfit for purpose not once but twice and has been informed that it needs to improve in order to provide a better service to the nurses that it regularly rips off with the fees it charges. The time has come for oour unions to become a little more active on these matter. The teachers have manged to force a re-think on their registration and regulalation. It is time we did the same.
