Yeah, this has been happening for a long time. I faced negative attitudes during training and was bullied in my first job, due to me being able to move and handle people with confidence due to my condition.
I managed to get a job which suited me, working in neuro rehab, which I have personal experience of the conditions experienced by the patients. I was an excellent initial assessor, and expert at talking to the patients and explaining their treatment and conditions. However a change in management triggered my depression, which gave the trust an excuse to get rid of me. Even my union rep refused to believe that depression is a disability. Due to that I had to move to a less forgiving ward, and whilst rushing to fulfil my role slipped on a wet floor. This fall left me with fibromyagia, as well as swollen wrists and a broken elbow. I have now been medically retired. I was in the NHS for nearly 18 years, worked my butt off only to be thrown away like a soiled tissue
